In order to try and keep things more organized and not clump everything into one thread, we'll make a thread for each of the shows. Post photos, reviews, comments, updated for each show. People can let others know which shows they'll be at, and these threads can remain active in the 'On The Road' forum afterwards so that those looking for certain things can still use them. You'll find other threads for each date pinned in that forum now.

Yeah the closest airport is San Diego, the show is about 25 minutes from the airport. If you guys go early, there is a great Pizza and beer place very close to the Belly Up called Pizza Port. They have excellent hand crafted beers, I recommend the honey beer very highly. All my best, see you guys at the show. Also, for those that do not know, this is a very small venue. I think it holds about 350. Here are directions for the out of towners..... peace!

From Los Angeles
Coming south from Los Angeles to Hwy 5 (Interstate 5) take the Lomas Santa Fe exist, go right (west) about 3/4 miles to Cedros. Turn left. You’ll see the Belly Up about 1 block down on the right side. (Additionally, you may want to consider riding the train to the Coaster stop)

From downtown San Diego
Coming north from San Diego on Hwy 5 (Interstate 5) take the Via de la Valle exit, go left (west) about 3/4 miles to Cedros Ave. Turn right. You’ll see the Belly Up about 1/2 mile down the street on the left. (Additionally, you may want to consider riding the train to the Coaster stop)

Erlan, is that you? :-)

Where's a good place to park? Is this a train that leads from convenient parking to the venue?

There is parking at the venue, for free. There is a train station about a ten minute walk from the venue, this would be known as the Solana Beach stop on the San Diego coaster. There is also free parking at the train station.

Hey DJ: I'm flying in from Seattle. Have a hotel for LA but haven't booked San Diego yet. Where are you staying that's so good and close? Is it cheep? (LA sure ain't.) I'm pretty sure I saw you at the Anaheim PHGP show and your reviews were great. Need to book a room in Long Beach, too.

Holy Hell Leanne! How'd you swing that!? Excellent! I'll see you there! biggrin.gif

Also, it looks like the Belly Up changed their policy for this show. They won't be selling tickets at the box office at noon. It will be a line up, pay, and enter when the doors open at 7pm.

That's really the best way, that's the same as the way they handled it at Juanitas.

There was scalping going on last night in Austin. confused.gif

^I concur. I hope they do the same in Phoenix.

Me, too!!! The way it worked in Little Rock was great. It was the true die-hard fans who got in and got the best spots - not the people with the most money. And I think that's the whole idea behind handling the admission this way.
djrossstar
Hey Pumkinhead!

I don't want to say the name of the hotel through GDA. Email me if you'd like! It's probably the closest one to the venue though. After 14 years of being a fanatic and going to every possible show and TV appearance, I'm not missing these 3 shows!

It's official, I'm gonna drown my sorrows by drinking all the alcohol I can find in Norway tonight, damn I wish I could go to the last three shows!!!

To everyone who's going, have fun with the Foxboro Hot Tubs and the Reverend! I'll see you next time! biggrin.gif

I really wanted to go to another show and so I've been researching flights to all the different venues and it turns out that the San Diego flight is the cheapest smile.gif What time are you thinking of lining up at? We've got a hotel about 10 minutes from the venue so luckily it won't be too hard to keep an eye on the queue. I think we arrive in San Diego around 11am!

I'll probably be there between 10 and 11 too! See you then!

Do I read right...you're coming back from Ireland a second time to see more Hot Tubs? That's crazy cool. Makes a measly three-show stand from Seattle lame in comparison. Hope I get to meet you. (I'm the fat old go go girl with the gray haired hippie friend.) When my friends and co workers question my sanity, I want to say I met someone crazier biggrin.gif After all that one on one with the guys and wives, I'd probably come back again too.

I'm still concerned about arriving at 3 or 4 but was heartened to hear it holds 600. We're gettin' in, don't care, no matter what!

Didn't mean to reply on that last one. Going to arrive earlier then noon, so let me know

Hey guys, currently at the airport waiting on my flight to San Diego, woot! My flight arrives in at 10.30am so by the time I arrive at my hotel in Solana Beach it'll be around 11.30am. 12/12.30 should be an okay time for turning up at the venue? I hope so anyway! The airport internet won't let me access any other pages on this site for some reason so if any of you's read this: I hope you had a great time in Phoenix last night and Beth, I will try my best to text or ring you smile.gif

Hey Mod-ly types. Time to move this post to the other page! :-D

I'm here in line with Janine. We got here a little after 9 and there were about 100 people in front of us. WTF? It's been pretty well publicized as Green Day around these parts. So it certainly looks like we'll get in, but it's going to be a long day. I'm stealing some poor soul's wi-fi here in the parking lot, but I'll try to update when I can.

At least it's a decent sized club. ~500 I'm told, and sure to be sold out.
netty
you`ve got Janine with you! of course you`ll get in! if anybody can get in and talk to the guys, she can! tongue.gif

Well I opted not to go to the SD show late last night. I hope everyone that goes has a great time.

It was a hard decision for me. I'm just not up to spending all day in line for the show. I think I understand the reasoning for how tickets are being sold. I disagree with it but I think I understand where the band is coming from.

The no camera comes from the latest PHGP shows. I think BJ and company were upset with how many people we recording the shows. I went to the one at the Chain Reaction in Anaheim. Honestly one of the best shows I've ever been too. Tre got in the pit briefly. My step son was in shock with glee. However almost every other person in the crowd had a camera phone or camera held up. A few shows later BJ commented that "Youtube can't own everything". I must say I agree. There is something to be said about cherishing the moment. I ordered tickets for the show threw the venue online, probably the best $10 I spent all year. I know scalpers got a hold of them as well and I saw them on ebay for $300+. This is sad but also a fact of the life. I understand the band wanting to do something about it but I don't think its really their place to police the issue (imho).

These strict rules are the reason I'm mostly not going. Its just not worth it to me to spend all day in line. I'm 32 now and a grumpy old man apparently. If I could have shown up early waited in line and got tickets in the AM and then had the day to go do other things I would have gone. I live about 70 miles north of the show. The LA shows are actually closer but I can't get those days off work. Going to any of them in socal is possibly, but its just not

Sitting on the sidewalk for 12 hours is not my idea of fun. I understand the band is trying to prevent scalpers and make sure true fans are at the concert. This of course is what they probably want. A nice intimate show with their fans. I can't really fault them for that. If I were in their place I would want all my fans there, not just the ones that could afford the scalper prices.

I just don't need to prove how big a fan I am to anyone. Not even myself. I really love the music they make and I'll be content with that today. Well again, I hope all that go have a great time. This time its just worth it to me.

How many people would you say are in line now?

I live about 20 miles from the venue (which is my FAVORITE venue of all time...those going will have a blast!), but opted to not spending Memorial Day standing in a line. Mind you, doesn't mean I don't LOVE the music the boys are putting out at FHT, just that such "iffy" circumstances are too much. Looks like the weather has cooperated, though, and the rains have stayed away...at least out here in O'side. I totally understand the band trying to keep it real for the fans and keeping the scalpers away, but I really wish there could have been some option other than the day-of, one ticket only (Belly Up changed from 2 tix to 1), and that you HAVE to go DIRECTLY into the venue after getting your ticket. Sorry, but that is a long ass day of being in line (word was that you'd be towed if you parked there all day), then having to go directly into the venue, then wait a couple hours for the opening band, then FINALLY FHT. I mean a gal wants to wear some kickin' threads as the Reverend has requested via his blogs (smile.gif) and that just doesn't happen when you're spending so many hours as folks will have to.

That being said, I know I'll kick myself for passing up this once-in-a-lifetime opporunity, and folks who DO put out all that effort are going to love, love, LOVE the venue and have a fabulous time. I can't wait to hear all about it...while kicking myself. ;)

Hmmm, wonder what the line is now like at 4PM....hmmm.....I could still go....would have to change....nah. ;)
Ila Reto
wow. you live right there and decide not to go because of a line. while people from other countries decide to take a plane to go see them.
hm, that's sort of interesting.

Interesting to you, but reality for me. In life you sometimes have responsibilities which keep you from being as spontaneous as you'd like...and trust me, I'm pretty spontaneous and go to concerts all the time. Didn't feel the need to get detailed in the previous post about exactly why I made the choice I did, but since you feel some frustration toward me for having the 'geographic ability to go and am not' here you go-- I have a responsibility (since no one else could take it for me) which would keep me from leaving until at least 5:30 and since folks previously said there were already 100 folks in line at about 9am, opting to 'chance it' just a couple hours beforehand doesn't seem feasible, and I would have had to 'take a chance' I could leave the line, drive 20 miles back home to tend to things, drive 20 miles back with police stops in full-force on the holiday), and 'hope' I'd get back in line.

And I DO understand the frustration of many who would die to go, but logistics/responsibilities prevent it...I've felt that way about bands before. Hey, if I had the money (and no medical responsibilities of others) I'd be flying around to shows all the time. I guess I mostly had posted that those who ARE going are going to LOVE the venue (I always like knowing about venues if I've never been there before) and that I am anxious to read about their adventures...certainly not to rub it in that I'm close and not going. 'Nuff said.

okay sorry i got a little snippy before.
i wasn't aware of your situation or your age, so i skipped rational thinking and went for the obvious assumptions i guess.

oh my! i totally forgot there was a show tonight!
probably because there wasn't that much hype on here today!

amazing though! 400 people already! and they still have what...3 more hours?
that line must be huge by the time it gets close to the doors opening.

400! And TV people! Wow...This is crazy. laugh.gif

This venue being 21+ nearly made this 19yr old cry.
I can't wait to hear about the insanity though.

Have you noticed all the shows that the Tubbies play the day after a show are never as exciting on here. I hope it's as good as the one here in Phoenix. All the writers for concert review sites said the one here in AZ was one of the best they've ever seen.
**nobodylikesyou**
Leanne is in and anna got her VIP passes! Mary (pismodiver) is about 75 feet away from the stage.

Yay go Leanne biggrin.gif

Right i gotta get ready for work, its morning for some of us, someone text me leanne updates!!!

got there. waited in line for a few hours. got inside....scoped out the place for a little bit to grab a spot. saw some benches near the stage (stage riight). there was a pole in my way, next to me there was the guitar tech, caution taped in his little area...then i noticed that there was also caution tape on the other side of him, meaning that i could sit on the bench actually right to the side of the stage. so basically i got to watch the band 5 feet behind jason freeze with no one in front or in back of me. same set list as the other nights, and it was fucking great.
