I don't think many people here will get to this but is there anyone out there at all who is going to the West Coast Riot festival in Gothenburg? If you don't know what it is, its a one day punk rock festival on a pier in Gothenburg Harbour

the confirmed bands so far are

NOFX
Bad Religion
Millencolin
Moderat Likvidation
Randy
The Hi Hats

more to be announced
*Minority*
My brother was a big fan of Millencolin but not anymore. He saw them live a couple of times but i doubt he would go so far to see a band! I wouldn't say the same about me shifty.gif
waninko
My brother is obsessed with Bad Religion & De Lyckliga Kompisarna, so he's going with some friends. I'm probably going by myself. They don't want me in their car laugh.gif Wonder if I'll ever manage to find the right place, knowing my lack of orienteering skills, I'll probably end up at the opposite end of the town or something. laugh.gif

Edit*
My bro's coming with me. And we're gonna totally pwn Gothenburg. cool.gif
We're really looking forward to the nearly 8 hour long train trip! =D Not.
waninko
Only 10 days to go! happy.gif Is anyone else going? It's gonna be so much fun! Gaah! biggrin.gif
misterPG
I am going...i know tons of people who're going..It fucking excited...it sucks though that NOFX and The Used are playing at the same time...
waninko
Yay! More people!

I'm one of the few people who actually don't like The Used that much, so I know where I'll spend my time tongue.gif

Before the lineup was out, I was worring about what to do if they put NOFX and BR at the same time, wich I was sure they would do just to piss me off. laugh.gif
Luckily they didn't, and I couldn't be happier.. except if they managed to put on The God Awfuls as well, but that would never happen. Nobody knows of their existence laugh.gif
misterPG
Everyone i know think it sucks big time that they're playing at the same time...and putting the used on the small stage..fuck that >.<

Anyways, i'm way excited woot.gif
beat_on_the_brat
Think I might be going. Some people I know and people I know of are going so I'm thinking I'll tag along and have one of them hand out their bracelet thingy through the fence... Yeeah, that oughta work.

I'm not a fan of any of the bands playing, but seeing Bad Religion, NOFX and DLK should be good fun thumbsup.gif
misterPG
Haha yeah worth a shot. bring some glue and glue it to your wrist xD
beat_on_the_brat
Haha nah I don't think that'll be necessary laugh.gif Getting that armband thingy off usually isn't that hard and I doubt I'll have any problems putting it around my wrist after someone's been able to get it off theirs. Having tiny wrists like I do is of course a huge plus biggrin.gif
misterPG
misterPG
hahaha, ja! Som Gerard sa på Pier Pressure "And hello to you cheap bastards standing on the bridge watching us for free" eller nåt sånt xD
beat_on_the_brat
This shit was EPIC. Seriously, it was a blast. Bad Religion put on a surprisingly good show and Flogging Molly were awesome as well. Those were my two favorite bands tonight, even though seeing Bad Religion turned out to be painful as shit laugh.gif Almost got moshed to death haha.
NOFX was kind of a let down though, they weren't that good... But that might have had something to do with the crowd as well, I'm guessing most of us were pretty tired by the time NOFX got on stage. Overall it was an awesome night and most of the bands were really tight smile.gif
misterPG
Well, you cant go to a nofxshow and expect to hear the best liveband in the world. you go to a nofxshow for the talking inbetween the songs and all the hilarious on the spot made up songs that are 40 seconds long that they throw in every now and then.

I think Bad religion did a really good set. so did Millencolin and Lagwagon, even though i didn't see all of Millencolin. Though, (surprise surprise) The Used were by far the best band of the evening.

That was awesome! I just came home late last night/early this morning happy.gif

When we first entered our hotel and got in line for checking in, we ended up behind the Lagwagon guys, and didn't notice it was them until they left for the elevators. Pwn'd.

But after the festival, we met the guitarist (Chris, the tall one not sure if it's Flipper or Rest. But we figured he looked like Cheney from TLE. Not that that has anything to do with anything of this but.. bah.) in the hotel lobby.
My brother then walked up to him, shook his hand and asked if they could be best friends. He laughed and said "Ok dude". I laughed my ass off for the rest of the evening because of that.

<"Hi! I don't know you, nor have I ever listened to any of your music, but now we're gonna be BFF! I love you! wub.gif">

I took some pictures and videos too, most of DLK, BR & NOFX happy.gif (I was totally up at the front a lot of the time! woot.gif Except the last part of NOFX. I got pulled under, and up again at a different place over and over again 'till I ended up kinda in the middle to the right. confused.gif Oh well. )

Haha, when we'd just entered the venue we ran over and bought some shirts. As we were doing that, my bro suddenly screams something about "Mart" and run off. I pay and follow him as fast as I could. As we got closer to the stage to the left (black?) I could clearly hear what was going on. DLK was soundchecking/warming up. So.. we waved at them, and my brother kept screaming "Det är MART!!! HEJ MART!! HEJ MART!!" at his best swedish, which is not very good. laugh.gif (I could post a vid of this, but he'd probably kill me if I did)

We had a great time though, and way to much fun shit happened to type down here. At least for now.

would have sold a ticket to me if i lived there.

Heey, what hotel did you stay at? smile.gif
waninko
^ Gothia Towers. All the cheaper ones were fully booked, really nice place though cool.gif
misterPG
ohdamn.
We stayed at a hotel-boat that was just on the other side of the bridge. took about 10-15 minutes to walk there from the Festival so it was really nice =)
waninko
That sound so nice! A hotel boat.. damn thats cool, never heard of one before. I want to stay on something like that instead next year. happy.gif

When it comes to Gothia, we didn't really fit in, to put it lightly. E.g. at the breakfast buffet there was us (dressed in shabby band clothes etc.. you know how you look the next day after a festival, pre-showered.), and loads of middle aged men in suits.

So we figured we'd walk trough the conference center, or whatever it's called.. (the part between the east & west tower where all the suit people were walking around trying to look important) as much as possible, and come down the gigantic stairs into the lobby, putting on our most "superior to everybody else" face, going slowly down the stairs. Some people didn't like us very much, but we had fun. laugh.gif And we met loads of nice people too, so it evens up =)
misterPG
Sounds awesome smile.gif
I wanted to go to the hove festival..or however you spell it to see The Used again the day after WCR. But i guess it would've been a bit hard getting there in time maybe =/

Yeah, if you wanted to be there right from the gates opened I guess you'd have to take a plane to Kristiansand, and then bus/train to Arendal from there. It's about.. 1,5 hours or so I think.

I don't know if there exists such things as midnight planes though. I'm not too common with flights laugh.gif But I know it'd be a hella lot of stress, getting to Hove from GBRG in such a short time I mean.
