Modes:

Master the basics! No need for experience. Pick your weapon of choice and ascend from beginner to rock god using Rock Band’s Tutorial Mode.

Perfect your tune! Breakdown any part of any song at your preferred speed with Rock Band’s Practice Mode.

Instant fix of fun! Jump into any unlocked song for some quick jam time either on your own or with other players with Rock Band’s Quickplay Mode.

Take it on the road! Pack up your instrument of choice and set out on the open road for a fun and challenging single player career mode with Rock Band’s Solo Tour Mode.

Conquer the world! Live the ultimate rock band lifestyle when you form a band locally or online and set out on tour. The journey to rock stardom takes you from small town bars to world-renowned venues. Earn fame and fortune along the way to secure rock star necessities with Rock Band’s Band World Tour Mode.

Head to Head - pretty much the same as face off/pro-face off in GH2, where you and your bud have the same instrument.

Online

Will feature full support for four player online play on both 360 and PS3. Any combination of on/offline play will work and each player can pick their own difficulty setting.

Flexible community system will allow you to find bandmates anywhere in the world

There will be a way for you to share your band's triumphs with the world, but the details are still under wraps.

Hundreds of downloadable songs are planned for the first year

Musical fret-boards are now transparent so you can see more of the background visuals. Guitar is on the left or right side of the screen, Bass on the left or right and drums down the middle. Vocals scroll from right to left along the top of the screen.

Notes are now a rectangular shape.

Rocking Multiplayer:

Band mates can fail out of a song for poor performance, but the band still plays on. Rescue your failing mate by busting out signature moves and blistering solos to wow the crowd with showmanship.

If all bandmates can reach the end of a song, you'll be greeted with one huge free-form jam session.

Earn bonus points for your band during Rock Band’s Unison Phrase opportunities if everyone plays perfectly. A single mistake blows the phrase for everyone.

Characters:

There will be a character creation system, and you can create multiple avatars that play different instruments.

Four themed clothing stores in addition to licensed guitars and pedals and other rock paraphernalia.

A full set of mo-cap stage movements have been added for each instrument. You can decide whether your vocalist moves like Axel Rose, or stands his ground like Clapton.

You'll be able to craft your own band logo.

Venues/Cities:

Amsterdam
Berlin
Boston (three confirmed venues: Charles Pub, in Somerville, The Establishment in Cambridge, and Hancock Theatre)
Chicago
London
Los Angeles
Moscow
New York
Paris
Reykjavik
Rio de Janeiro
Rome
Seattle

It's more than likely going to kick GH3's ass. Don't get me wrong, I've been with guitar hero from the very beginning with the first game, less than a month after it came out, and I got the second one the day it came out. But that was when Harmonix and Red Octane were with it, and they moved to Rock Band, and Rock the 80's sucked a little. So yeah.
IWantYourBabies
Well, I won't be buying it. Be fun to try out though, I guess.

Harmonix is the one that moved to Rock Band.
RedOctane and Neversoft are making Guitar Hero 3.
And Harmonix did make Rocks The 80's.

Also, I've talked to people who have played both Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band, and they say that Guitar Hero 3 is much better.

Rock Band will be a great multiplayer game. I've seen a lot of the guitar charts for Rock Band, and they are boring.

Guitar Hero and Rock Band will be able to coexist. Neither one is going to overtake the other.

I plan on getting the Rock Band drum bundle.
snaredrummer9
reminds me of that Moody Blues song...."i'm just a singer in a rock 'n' roll band".....
Pan.
Interesting.

I love Guitar Hero, so I'm kind of excited about buying this game, but seriously, I'm not as addicted to GH as a lot of you are -- especially you, Brian. haha.
cam-greenday-fan
it looks good but i dont really have 30 quid and money for it thing i think the price might slow down sales for it
clusterbomb
i dont really like these kinds of games, it just encourages kids to be lazy and not learn to play the real guitar or a real drum kit lol.
guitar hero is way too easy and this is too pricey just for a game.
GET A REAL GUITAR! lol
Russian paranoid
Interesting smile.gif
Even though I will never buy it.
Bastard
I'm definitely buying Rock Band! I love Guitar Hero, and being able to play the drums too seems fucking awesome.
bat-chen
It's looks great that there's no way that I'm going buy it unless I win alot of money.
¿Whatsername?
My friend's brother played it when I was at her house. He tests games for the company that developed the game during the summer. I can't wait to buy it - it looks amazing.
anarchistloserkid
Guitar Hero was okay, but if you're going to do this why not start an actual band?
teh_pwnerer
liek yet another game for me to liek pwn at.
beat the sYstem
oh man this looks sexual.
Jake
I definitely want this, and will probably be getting this for 360, when my friend gets a 360 soon for Halo 3. It looks epic.
randomness
the drums look good, i'd probably be better at them than the guitar where you have to move your fingers individually. don't have a xbox360 or ps3 though so i guess i can't.
CarnageXB
Well since its 2 times more then GH3 I wont be buying rock band till christmas or my birthday. The drums is blah, but I want the guitar cause it has 5 extra buttons for solos, like tapping. You don't even need to strum. In the long run I think GH3 will win but until rock band at least cuts $50 off the price I'm going to wait. Still they said they are going to be bringing out whole albums for rock band, that could be cool.
saurus
those drums look dodgy man.
i wont be buying it anyhoo.
Jose Luis
i would love to play it in my friend's 360, but we don't have enough money and we have a real band tongue.gif
misterPG
Looks awesome... ^^
Ali
Lemme guess...you want it, right???

doooorkkk
Relavar
looks pretty tight.

Yeah, that's true. and that drum kit isn't even close to a real one. I don't think I or anyone else who plays drums wants to hear some kid say " i'm so good at drums in that game i think i can play a real set." yeah right.
CarnageXB
you people saying that a real guitar or drums are better, thats true but video games are for entertainment and can actually make you money. Myself have been in a couple of tournaments and have won over 10,000 all together so I can make a living. I still have a life. Video games rule

what games are this like
soundbarrier4
I've added more information to the first post.

There's actually 5 songs that I can see that are both on GH3 and Rock Band.
Rita
Oh wow. Looks awesome. I'd want to play it.
soundbarrier4
I really want to get the drum set for the game.

I'm pretty sure that the GH2 360 X-Plorers will work for Rock Band, so I already have a guitar.

And the drums will be a new thing that I'll learn and get better at.

Here's a video of 9 songs from the game, all these songs are guitar on Expert.

Because it's just a video game. We want to play it for entertainment.

I mean, I never hear people saying, "Halo is okay, but why don't you just go shoot people for real?"
Micky K
I heard about this about July, & i can't wait! i love Guitar Hero & Guitar Hero 2, & i can't wait for this! Being in a band myself, i'll know its never gonna have the adrenaline that you get from being onstage, but it will more than likely the most awesome game to do with music!! It's basically Guitar Hero & Singstar rolled into one, with an electronic drumkit added in, which sounds & looks as if this game is gonna b awesome!!
randomness
is it just me that thinks comments like "a real band is better" or "a real guitar is better" make no sense. it's a video game, it's not supposed to be real. if you was playing GTA you don't go "psh yeh but i like doing real drive bys better" do you?

edit: haha Brian, i just saw your post. didn't see it before.
TotalBasketCase13
It looks really fun! I don't think I'll be buying it though, just because I don't have any money to waste on a video game.

Exactly what he said. It's for entertainment. I mean it's fun.
Phoebe.
I played GHII from 10am until about 5pm, that's 7 hours confused.gif with various friends playing too.
I'd love to play the bass or drums on it, but I dont think people would like to sing, even if you can turn it down.

Worth the money if you're going to play it. Worth splitting with friends etc.
But what's with those extra higher note buttons?
woven_basketcase
that looks amazing!
too bad it costs a shitload of money. D:

i'll stick with GH3 until i can buy that.

Those are the same buttons as the buttons on the top but you don't have to strum with the bottom buttons, you tap them like you do in solo's on the real guitar.
Phoebe.
Sweet! But how does one differenciate between the green low note and the green high note? :S

Ah well. I guess I'll play it one day, one of my mates' parents HAS to be dumb enough to buy this for them tongue.gif
Ali
I wish I had some video game playing device.

haha

I dont play video games really...
but I would so play this, Guitar Hero, and DDR.
TrEcOoLiSmYLoVeR
Oh my F*cking God!!!

I WILL GET THIS GAME NO MATTER WHAT!!!

Cause my Birthday is coming up and I could quite possibly get a XBox 360 then, and when Christmas comes around I could get the Special set of the Game!!! It's fool proof!!!
annie
My boyfriend pre-ordered this already, I can't wait to play, even though I'm gonna totally suck at it just like I suck at Guitar Hero. tongue.gif
clusterbomb
lol, i was only being silly when i said get a real guitar.
and i dont know whether the ''playing games earns you money'' comment was a joke or serious but it was a pretty stupid comment.
real guitars and other real instruments are fun to play, and you can earn a lot of money from it... as you probably know since we are on a green day forum...
soundbarrier4
You can get money from Guitar Hero. Just go into a tournament.

My friend just won $75 from a GH tournament a couple days ago.
Andrick
ive heard about this and i definitely want it.
mmmcrazypills
This looks really fun. Except I wouldn't spend 200$ on a video game ever.
soundbarrier4
The master track of:

Orange Crush - REM

...has been confirmed by a video from a gaming website. I've added it to the first post.

There aren't that many more songs to confirm. I read that Rock Band will have 45 tracks. 35 have been confirmed now.
Mrs. Nobody
Cool it's got great songs =D

(Garbage =D)
Whatsername825
holy crap, this game will be amazing. smile.gif
can't wait til December 10th when it comes out for PS2.
biggrin.gif
whatsername***
looks awesome, but I don't have a 360 or a PS dry.gif
