OK, while I'm waiting for news of the new album (I've been mostly just lurking since then), I started listening to old Green Day albums I haven't listened to in a long time. Recently, I listened to Nimrod, which, while not my favorite album, has a lot more good songs than I remembered. One of those songs is Prosthetic Head. When I first heard the album, I wondered why Good Riddance wasn't the last song, since it seemed it would make sense to have a quiet, sentimental song to end an album (like Macy's Day Parade is or Whatsername to some degree). However, listening back, I realized how awesome this song really is.
I'm not sure its my favorite closing song on a Green Day album, but its pretty close. So, how about you? What's your favorite final song? For the purpose of this, don't count hidden tracks (like All By Myself) and don't count the last four tracks off Kerplunk (Sweet Children, Best Thing in Town, Strangeland, and My Generation) since they weren't originally part of the album and were just tacked on at the end.

Walking Contradiction is such an awesome yet frustrating tune, since you finish it and want more (the fact that Insomniac is so short doesn't help). Its the opposite of everything you'd expect in a final song, which is what makes it so cool.

Words I Might Have Ate does not close Kerplunk
It did originally, but they later stuck the "Sweet Children" EP to the end of the album (giving the four songs that actually end it). Since Words I Might Have Ate feels like a final song (and I think is a better ending song anyway), I figure it would be fair to count it as it was originally intended.
EDIT: I'll add the last song to Shenanigans now, thanks

EDIT again: I guess I can't. Oh well, write in the vote if its your favorite

I'd have to say Whastername.
It's a beautiful song and very melodic. And the last little instrumental in it makes for a nice, open ended ending, where you can make your own assumptions on where the story goes after that.
I thought it was an inspired ending on Green Day's part.

Damn.
Most of these are some of my favorite songs.
But I went with Whatsername...
And shouldn't it be "All By Myself" instead of F.O.D? Just because it's a hidden track doesn't mean that you shouldn't list it.

I like Macy's Day Parade, it's a great song and just seems to be a the kind of song you can finish listening to music with. I'm not sure exactly why haha, maybe because it's calm and quieter.

I think it's a good closing to Nimrod, because all the songs are so different and expirimental.

I love Macy's Day Parade. I like when albums end on a softer note. Plus it practically makes me tear up every time I hear it. Billie sounds so freakin' sad, man.
