How is it compared to TYATH?

TYATH isn't their first album.
their first was self-titled

oh...I dunno...........how bout it's gothic and trendy as fuck and filled with some of the most goddamn depressing songs I've ever heard?

I don't care what gc has to say to defend that album, I still only see it as an attempt to cash in on the (then)newfound popularity of emo/goth.

they are popular, but not by being emo/goth.
their songs are uplifting
the river is about christianity

I think she's saying that someone compared it to Good Charlotte and The Chronicles of Life and Death and she wants to know how it compares to The Young and the Hopeless

The River is more so about the corruption of Los Angeles and the crazy lifestyles that end up hurting people. Yes, there are references to Christianity, but it's mostly a song about living in LA.

True

One of the things that ive always loved about Good Charlotte though, is their small and subtle references to their beliefs. I guess thats one of the ways that i can relate to them and have that connection to them. I know they aren't some religious band, which is probably a good thing, in a way, but i guess it's just something that i see in them and something i get from their music. Everyone gets different things out of their music, which is whats awesome.
Blu
I've always loved the fact they've been open about their beliefs. It makes them different from most bands. Most bands don't ever mention anything about what they believe. Even for those who don't believe in Christianity at least know where Good Charlotte stands. It's beliefs that keep a lot of people going. In songs like Hold On, The Day That I Die, and The River (to mention a few) subtle mentioning of religion make the song powerful.
The River's double meaning makes the song more in-depth than I think they've ever really gone before, at least lyrically. They've got a few powerful songs, but those are more powerful because of theme than lyrics.

Nicely said, I agree^

so you dont like a band cause they are "in"
omg. thats stupid.

...I don't think you understood my post at all...when did I say I hated good charlotte because they tried to be "in"? Please stop putting words in my mouth, and please stop being a fucking bitch (as usual).

I love AFI, and they have without a doubt tried to "fit in". I like a ton of bands that have or are trying to "fit in".
I greatly disliked chronicles. Is that, perhaps, too hard to accept? That someone doesn't like it?

well boo hoo.
_GREENDAY_
IAmARevenant you never answered my question. Please explain it.
IAmARevenant
sorry, I didn't see it.

I haven't heard GMR yet. I was just talking about chronicles.
Blu
Most people haven't heard GMR yet.
Only 4 more days. Sony says they shipped everything, but considering 2 tracking numbers, I'm not getting GMR for 3-5 days. At least my friend should be able to send me the video that comes with the iTunes version... hopefully. That's why I paid for the CD twice...

I know they stand out, but if you think past the words 'praying', 'baptized', 'sinner', etc, you can see he's saying that he's made mistakes. He lives in a place where mistakes are common. He wants to be clean and start over fresh. The 'praying mother and worried father' part is about parents fearing their children making mistakes and growing up.
Yeah, there are Christian references. I noticed them right away. I thought it was cool. But what they can stand for is so much cooler to me. I love symbolism. The River is buried in symbolism.
DragonsWarth27
The river is an amazing song, it has depth to it, and the lyrics are meaningful
billie-joe-geek72

just so you know, I'm not the person that is concerned over whether or not online people like me. In fact, I find it amusing when they hate me, especially if the reason is as stupid as me not liking a band or a magazine.
Morgaine
Fuck, I've seen their new album in a store today but I don't have enough money confused.gif I'm going to ask my parents, maybe they'll agree to lend me some.

lmao. no shit you weren't talking to me.
IAmARevenant
oh, now I remember. when someone once said she didn't like good charlotte live, you responded with "They're probably better than you could ever do." WOW that was really idiotic.

and you also completely denied the fact that good charlotte stole from the Sex Pistols. Seriously, the bridge to The Festival Song sounds EXACTLY like the outro to God Save the Queen, and they even use "nooooooo fuuuuture" exactly like it in God Save the Queen.

wow, you are an idiot.

and if you knew I wasn't talking to you, then why did you reply?
Blu
Can you guys please stop fighting?

Does anyone else find their new sound interesting? It's a complete turn around from Chronicles and threw me off a touch at first. But I'm really starting to like the CD. KYHOMG is annoying me less and less, but Beautiful Place is starting to get on my nerves. Overall, the CD is pretty good. Anyone else have an opinion?

oh yeah i totally agree with yah. they wanted to break free of Chronicles because they were all gothic and stuff and now they're like happy happy happy.
i'm still kinda bumbed that Chris is gone sad.gif
HMMbands
^ yeah, i really liked Chris too. crying5lc.gif

At first when I listened to the album all the way through, i was like "wow, this is a different sound for them". but It's starting to grow on me. There are curtain songs that i really love. I still think my all time favorite on this album is The River. All Black is quite good too. I've had that one stuck in my head all day. happy.gif i really like Misery too. and March On has a different vibe to me, but its really good also. and I agree with you blu, KYHOMG is annoying me a bit less too, but i still dont care for the song. laugh.gif
Blu
I obviously love All Black... My current sig would never give that away...
Misery, The River, and March On are just songs I love to death and so many others are just really good. I like Where Would We Be Now and Broken Hearts Parade quite a bit too.
KYHOMG still isn't a great song, but at least it's not so annoying.

Don't worry about Chris being gone. From what I've heard, he needed to go. Hopefully Dean will stick around long enough to be an official part of the band. He's their third drummer. One of them has to stick.
_GREENDAY_
Im glad to hear you guys like it to. Ive had it 2weeks 2moro.
I like the new sound. I spose when i told ya guys earlier when you hadnt heard it..you were probably like yeah right lol..but now you can see what i was saying.

Just was suprised there was no "hidden" song.
