Manchester United played their home matches at Maine Road during the Second World War because Old Trafford was bombed by German bombers. It was also where United had their 3 highest crowd appearances which were all over 81000. One of which saw United defeat Yeovil Town 8 - 0 in an FA Cup 5th Round match.
