Because it is better!! So much better, I just realized it tongue.gif
I can't join another club, this club is kind of my compulsory sport class. So I can't find another coach, all I can do is changing it to swimming or something. But on the other hand, martial arts are the best sports ever, and I don't really feel like swimming every week or playing basketball or whatever... Dunno, I have to think it over smile.gif

Well, if I were you, I'd choose martial arts, of course. tongue.gif
Cause I don't like playing basketball/volleyball/etc.
Swimming can be pretty relaxing though. But I'd get bored soon.
But do you still keep practicing in your karate club?

I'm currently a 1st Dan black belt at ITF Tae Kwon Do, i would be a 2nd Dan now if i never missed so much training due to exams ><" but meh I got next year... =P

I use to do Judo, but i only trained for like 2 months then left because it just never appealed to me..

Anyone here do TKD as well?

Woah, congrats! I'd love to be a 1st Dan (in karate, in my case).
No, I've never done Tea Kwon Do, but my friend has.

Of course I do! Karate is... a part of my life, I'd say haha. I couldn't give it up so easy. Hopefully I'll change the club to a better one soon. The one I'm in now is getting worse, I don't really know why. For sure not because of the coach, she's great and she teaught me a lot. I think it's the location's fault...
I like swimming, but not when I;m forced to do that every week. It's nice to go swimming when you feel like it, but it's getting terrible, when you have to, and if you don't go, you'll het a lower mark. That's not something for me.
I;m staying in this judo club for the time being, and the we'll see. Hope it won't be so bad.
Haha the problem is that my friend who I pracitse with is... well, rather fat, and it's not easy to fight with her... but I'll get over that too, I'm pretty positive smile.gif
Benji Ho
TKD is fun, it's really different from Karate because we mainly use kicks and it really helps our balance and stuff, its fun =p. Youtube some TKD vids some might surprise you XD

Well, yeah, I believe that chineses could be the best people to teach Kung Fu, but some other people are really good too smile.gif yeah, just those people should have experience and at least some contact with chinese culture, what I had with my teacher. Its really important smile.gif

Morgaine
^Why can't you?
Morgaine
I just passed my judo exam (I have it as a university class, you see) and I got 4,5 (to explain: you can get marks from 1 (the worst) to 5 (the best)).
That's so unfair, I wanted to get 5 so badly! sad.gif

1 white
2 white end
3 yellow
4 yellow end
5 green
6 green end
7 blue
8 blue end
9 red
10 red end
11 black
Morgaine
^Oh I see.
And then you have a few black belts, or only one? Because in karate (and judo) we have dans - the first black belt is the 1st dan, the second is 2nd dan etc.

We have 10 dans as well, but the last one is given only to the masters after their death tongue.gif
So the best you can be while alive is 9th dan.

Muay Thai. I think Mohamed could say something more about it smile.gif
Today I found out that one of my friends' friend does Muay Thai. Does it count as 'knowing' this person (I've never seen him)? If it does, I know one person who does it (beside Mohamed), and my previous post is not true anymore tongue.gif

thanks for the information biggrin.gif
Morgaine
^You're welcome smile.gif

Since our sensei (a coach) is pregnant now, she asked her friend to replace her at the trainings. Her friend turned out to be a very nice guy, but also very exacting. So I'm basically dead after each practice now. I don't regret that change, though, at least I know I'm doing a progress. Plus it's actually a nice feeling to be so tired at the evening, I can easily fell asleep. That's kind of mean, but I hope that our previous sensei won't be back so quickly.

hey, hows it going. I haven't been on this thread for a while so i couldn't explain it ASAP but basically muay thai is a martial art from thailand which involves full contact with your fists, legs, elbows and knees. But the link Kasia gave you will have explained all that smile.gif Btw Kasia i know exactly what you mean. That feeling you get when you push yourself to the limit is great & lets you fall asleep easily. I reckon its useful cuz im a bit of an insomniac woot.gif
Morgaine
^I'm a bit of an insomniac too laugh.gif I had never had that problem before, it started like a year ago during my end of term exams. It's better now, but a few months after the exams were horror. Never again, please.
St_Insubordinate
Haha, yeah it seems to happen to a lot of people during their exam period

^hahaha that's funny! you made a guy cry...oh so great...

i use to be in Tae-Kwon-Do but there were so many sexists there. plus my mom got her arm broken and i wanted to play the drums instead...totally worth it!

Sexists in taekwondo? Not at our club! I had to give it up about 18 months ago because of a foot injury confused.gif. I got to green belt (3rd belt up). I hope to get back to it by next month, though!

This reminds me of that Polish karate sensei who was accused of sexual harassment.
And again, that reminds me of MY sensei who likes hugging me for some reason mellow.gif

Careful. ohmy.gif

I have never done any kinds of martial arts or sumo wrestling. But karate looks pretty fun. There is a kid in my class who does karate and in english class he once did a presentation about it. And yes, it does look quite interesting. I doubt I will ever try it though. Too lazy.
Morgaine
^I am careful! ohmy.gif
And you, move your ass and start doing karate, it's absolutely awesome tongue.gif

Everyone is cool with the girls in my class. I mean there's the occasional spanking & boob honking but apart from that it's fine.

tongue.gif Nah not really, the guys would never do that & if they tried they'd get their arse kicked.
