+44
When your heart stops beating
+44 (pronounced Plus Forty Four) is the band's debut album since the breakup of the popular California band Blink-182. The new band (+44) is made up of the following people:
Mark Hoppus - Bassist/Lead Vocals
Travis Barker - Drummer
Shane Gallagher - Lead Guitarist
Craig Fairbaugh - Rhythm Guitarist/Backup vocalist
The band was formed in 2005 after when Blink-182 went on to an "indefinite hiatus". The name of that band came from the international dialing code of the United Kingdom (hence the saying, +44) Another member of the band, Carol Heller was in the band's ranks, but she decided part ways in July 2006 to start a new family. Her vocals can be heard on the song "Make You Smile" (one of the songs founded on the debut album).
The album sounds really has that feel of "Blink-182", in terms of the vocals and music rhythms.
The album begins with "Lycanthrope", a catchy but interesting song (despite the trace of a female vocalist).
The song "When your heart stops beating" however, really gives that "pure Blink" feel. The slowest songs that really appeal to me are "Little Death" and "No It Isn't". These songs are very good for the long drive on a summer vacation.
As for "Make You Smile", the song fits really well if you are driving along a rural road or it can double as a "cure" to your personal problems (whether a break-up or a tragic incident happening to your family).
"When your heart stops beating" is a big step from Blink-182 and Tom Delonge's sudden departure from Blink (which in turn formed his own band, "Angels and Airwaves"), but it gives a major insight on the post-Blink era that the guys of +44 really make the commitment. As you all know, Mark Hoppus (lead singer of +44) recently sold his share of Atticus, Macbeth Footwear and an interest in the popular shopping website LoserKids.com. In a recent interview, he stated that Tom (Delonge) and his party are on their own ways and Mark is traveling in his own way.
Overall, the album is worth getting and it tends to interest you on entering a post-Blink world.

"No, It Isn't" is the fuckin' best song ever. xD
So is the title track. 155 is good too.
+44 are amazing, and Mark Hoppus is the nicest/funniest guy ever.

I love +44 I got their album as soon as it came out. My favorite songs are When Your Heart Stops Beating and Make you Smile, plus a ton of others. Hell I like most of the album.

I can relate to a lot of songs on that album and I usually find albums and bands or songs to be better when I can relate to it/them in some way.
I never liked Tom.

I like the title track a lot, but I haven't listened to all of it. Great review, way better than mine haha. But there's something about Mark's voice that...I don't know how to describe it. whatever.
I'll leave before I get insulted on my Tom Delonge sig
