I'm not into organized religion all that much. It's always seemed way too controlling and close-minded. I just try to be a good person day to day and deal with whatever comes to me. I like to believe in Karma.
Besides, I have my own moral code, I don't need to live by God's or anyone elses

It's the flying spaghetti monster, who created the universe after a night of too much drinking, and if you are faithful you will go to heaven with beer volcanoes and strippers, but if you are bad you will go to hell, where the beer is stale and the strippers have STDs. That is Pastafarianism.

yes, your point is?

Actually, Richard Dawkins just uses it quite often in his speeches, it wasn't created by him.

Pastafarianism is just as legitimate as Islam, Christianity, or any other religion.

If God cast down Satan, and all he is only a fallen angel, why does he have the power to speak into the minds of humans? Why would God give him such power in the first place? The story is so ridiculous. An omnipotent god is having a battle with Satan over the souls of the human race. And god apparently can't live with sin, even though he's god and can do whatever he wants to. And he created people he knew would sin, and he gave the devil, who he hates, the power to talk to humans. And he lets the devil live, even though he hates him. And he sent Jesus to die for our sins, even though he could have simply forgave them himself.

at least in my religion, the story is that satan actually first held a position as a temptor... he'd see how commited to God people really were. kind of like a judge of people's morality, so he wasn't technically really an angel...

but idk- i personally don't really believe that any of that's anything but mythic veracity... ppl make up stories about satan, so they can have someone to personify evil and temptation. as far as why that evil exists is because we believe that God gave us the right to free choice, and as a result of people's decisions, evil exists. God wants us to be able to make decisions that bring us closer to him. satan's really just a manifestation of people's ideas about why evil exists in the world.

Religion is not a bad thing... it is bad people who do bad thing not religions.. religions are ideas and beliefs.. they do not have the mind or power to start wars, kill, hate or fly planes. it is the evil of people who do those things... people need to take responsibility now and accept that and stop blaming beliefs systems which have been known to do good and give hope and happiness to millions..

spaghetti monster is one of Dawkins' biggest contradictions a man who believes paley false partially on the grounds the universe is nothing like a watch has managed to compare God and omnipotent, omniscient, omni-benevolent being to a monster made up of a pasta.. if anything can be considered absurd and misleading it is not religion it is the views he holds which seem to change book by book and cancel out the one before... he needs to stick to science.. hes too bitter for a biasless religious debate.

I'm a Methodist Christian. My dad's a minister and stuff but I'm not very sure I want to call myself a Christian. I kind of want to travel the world and learn all the different religions. Then make my own choice.

Once again, the spaghetti monster is not Dawkins' but that aside, could you please re-write this so it makes more sense?

Okay, this took me a year to figure out O.o I am agnostic.

Also, to compare to you guys up there, I haven't gone to church on my own accord ever in my life.

I think the long and boring hours spent in temple over the years has caused me to become Agnostic. The same goes for my brother.
I just always thought that there can't be any possible way that there was or is a higher power that created and controls everything
Eh.... whatever

Religion confuses the hell out of me. I'm supposed to be Catholic but I don't believe in anything that the religion stands for. Sometimes I believe in God, sometimes I don't.....I don't know what to believe in anymore!

Its hard to explain but the best example I can give is that my dad has cancer...I pray to God hoping that he'll be alright but sometimes I think how can there be a god if he lets things like this happen. Know what I mean? I suppose deep down I do believe in god but sometimes I just feel really angry with him.

Me neither, we used to be forced to go on wednesdays when I was at school. It sucked, me and my friends used to sit as near to the back as possible and talk or replace what the priest was saying with rude words shift.gif

So you generally do believe in God, but sometimes, in hard moments, you have some doubts about it. I get it.

I'm agnostic, though agnostics and atheists are pretty much in the same category, though I still like Christmas, I just leave out the religious aspects.
Melly.
I don't know what I believe in.
It all confuses me, to be honest.

So in a sense I guess that makes me, agnostic?
I normally label myself as 'Bleh', however.
anarchistloserkid
Thank God I'm Agnostic :]
Relavar
Agnostics and Atheists have absolutely nothing to do with each other.
Novacaine
I'm not a religious person, but I like some of the psalms and I like being in church. I don't know, but it gives me this weird feeling of peace and stillness. Hard to explain. pinch.gif And I like christian funerals. Not that I like funerals like "wohoo yay someone is dead", no, more like that's how I think I want to be buried. pinch.gif

Agnostics believe there might be a god but aren't sure.
Athiests believe there isn't a god at all.

So they are kind of similar.
