I got an email from the company thats going to distribute a new 'Can You Rock' Cd with 5 Green Day songs. It's basically a cd with certain instruments or vocals removed in each song so you can play along with or whatever. It was released yesterday.
Here's the track list
1 American Idiot (vocals removed)
2 Longview (vocals removed)
3 Brain Stew (vocals removed)
4 Basket Case (vocals removed)
5 Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) (vocals removed)
6 American Idiot (guitar removed)
7 Longview (guitar removed)
8 Brain Stew (guitar removed)
9 Basket Case (guitar removed)
10 Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) (guitar removed)
11 American Idiot (vocal and guitar removed)
12 Longview (vocal and guitar removed)
13 Brain Stew (vocal and guitar removed)
14 Basket Case (vocal and guitar removed)
15 Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) (vocal and guitar removed)
It's 15 bucks:
http://www.schoolofrockrecords.com/web/pag...atid=42&id=1065They have three clips up
American Idiot (no vocals)
Brain Stew (no guitar)
Basket Case (no lead vocals or guitar)
What do you guys think, worth it or not?
They sent us a copy of it that should be in this week. They said I could post up small 20 or 30 second clips on GDA if i wanted so you guys could get an idea of what the others sound like.

It's abviously useful for those who play instruments.

It's pretty cool to hear certain parts of the song like that. Like hearing Billie singing without the powerful guitar in that Brain Stew clip.

I don't play an instrument but I would like to hear it anyway, it's great to hear different mixes and raw cuts of songs you already know so well.

Billie sounds way different in brain stew. how come he says messed up instead of fucked up.

That sounds fair good.
Although I wish the drums were removed as well. Although I guess it doesn't matter, I still play along to the songs now with the drums still in play.

it seems useful, but you can only hear the song
i learn to play the songs by hearing them, but it could be more usefufor bassists than for guitarists and drummers
i think thats totally awesome. good buy. i would get it.

I'm pretty sure it's billie except for a couple parts. I dont think anyone could sound that close to his voice through an entire song. But i'm sure they got someone to do the "messed up and spun out in my room" part just for censoriship.
I guess when I get the CD we'll be able to hear some other songs and see if it sounds like him as well.

I don't really think it's worth it. Joe showed me a plug in you can have with Winamp or whatever it's called and you can remove the vocals on that. So it's free...I'd just use that.

Yeah it sounds cool and I'd get it!
And I think it could be Mike singing because it says 'no lead vocals'.

Would have been handy for all those contests.
Brain Stew does sound weird though. I'd wait to hear what some people say about the rest before buying it.

It says on that website:
"3 specially-recorded renditions of five Green Day hits"
So I think they got someone else to do it.
But I'd buy it.
