I’m, having trouble pin pointing the exact words to say. Billie Joes opens up a whole new world for me- for what I see in myself. Every line serves its purpose in the moment and out of mind - whether it being the hard hitting lyrics of Jesus Of Suburbia or the hidden lines in 'Stuck with me' hidden by the ounce of pride Billie Joe puts away when writing - sometimes washed away by a wave of his honesty.
Its that little honesty that makes me 'see the things he values in his heart' and then again resurfaces dark areas in mine, you couldn’t understand how someone could condense that pain and honesty in a couple of words - although in my mind he lightly surfaced it in 'rage and love'.
For me 'The Jesus Of suburbia' is my line, my description. As I said in other posts American Idiot was another turn of time for Billie, A 'season change' in mind - Like Insomniac, American Idiot had a different point of view. AI opened doors to recovering what is inside Billie’s mind, his heart. He pieced together his beliefs and questioned himself and everything that’s around him- it all scratched the surface of the different phases or aspects that I’ve found in every album, in every song. He clearly expressed those feelings thought the album, some hidden, but tried to express what was overwhelming him maybe those sweet 16 years of his career and beyond. The Jesus Of Suburbia is bound by the burden of the thoughts AI describes and those hidden to us waiting to be discovered again. I don’t think the world will ever really know 'what' is the Jesus Of Suburbia, but I get the feeling of which he belongs to - whom he branched out from. Jesus is another figment of Billie’s honesty waiting for maturity and prepared for anything his difficult mind can throw at him. He’s the sole figure of that honesty and finally a generalized term for the inexplicable, the UN -awakened I and maybe Billie himself is yet to explain and bring out.
He appeals to me through relation, I can relate to just about anything I can dare to explain and interpret about his words, I cant fully explain Jesus, but I know his burden and I live it - we can all find something to believe in him for in ourselves. 'She sees a mirror of herself', another line I can relate to, you see?
