I've been cumming over surrealism lately.

Dali, Ernst, Magritte, etc.
The Doctor
Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró. Amazing Spanish surrealist painters. Dalí is probably the most famous, he did this:

But Miró is lesser known, although you might recognise his style of drawing:

Hurrah for surrealism! I'm also in love with Van Gough. The Starry Night is the bomb!

Yeah, Dave McKean is a damn god! I absolutely love his artwork. But my favorite artist is and always will be Lars Henkel, a friend of mine. He was influenced by McKean in the beginnig of his creative work. Maybe you want to check him out?

To the people who say Banksy, why? I mean, his work is visually appealing, but you know he uses stencils, right?

Yeah, but as someone already said, he creates them. If he went out with no stencils, just a spray can, he'd only be able to do the generic 'graffiti' that you see everywhere. And I think the reason he appeals to me is that he's:

1) A great artist (those stencils alone must take hours).
2) He's chosen a really sublime way to display his work.
3) He doesn't actively seek publicity.

And this reminds me, I really have to buy the book documenting his work next payday!

But at least he's on the road to recovery. Even a court agreed he was doing his best to kick heroin, and he's friends with Carl Barat again. I was always under the impression that heroin drove them apart. If they're mates again, then Pete must at least be really trying to get clean.

But let's not spam this topic up with Pete Doherty chat. I'm sure there's a thread foir it somewhere! smile.gif

Not a real artist, but I've always loved my grandfathers art.
On some of his paintings you notice other things about the picture when you stand in another site of the room. I found that pretty cool.

And I like Frida Kahlo a lot.

I tried to copi that picture in art class. Yeah, I sucked.

it turned out really nice

back on topic, i really love Banksy's work, it goes where most arists don't, and it looks nice as well (plus you don't have to go into a museum to see it) and I really like the mysteriousness of it all, it's like "where will it pop up next and what will it be?", its not just the same thing every time
