SEX PISTOLS
Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols Submitted by: Kaitlin Saltzer
When someone mentions the Sex Pistols the first word that might come to mind is Anarchy. An•ar•chy: Absence of any cohesive principle, such as a common standard or purpose. (Taken from dictionary.com) Never Mind the Bullocks was the Sex Pistols’ debut album and their skeleton key to the frail minds of its listeners.
The pistols’ “piss off” approach toward life is what gave them that attitude, that sass and that outlandish attraction pulling in masses of young, hungry and impressionable listeners. Emerging from a time of pretty pop melodies, hungry for something more substantial the Pistols came roaring out with a physical presence.
For the first time you could feel the energy, a dangerous almost violent presence of an imminent uproar. Rock n’ Roll became more than just cerebral but a physical craze, something to grasp and live by.
This album concerned the public but excited the outcasts of society with tracks like “God Save the Queen” and “Anarchy in the UK”. Each song on never mind the Bullocks served as an anthem for every teenage misfit and outsider, it compelled them to question the established society and gave them an opportunity to revolt. The Sex Pistols initiated a cultural revolution and served it to the public on a rusty platter. “Never Mind the Bullocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols” is sure to satisfy your craving for rebellion in the form of raw, crunchy riffs and sneering attitude with socially conscious lyrics.

i find it hilarious how one of the most influential albums out there was recorded by one of the worst bands (in terms of musical ability) of the 70s. having said that, the pistols did get me onto heaps of other great punk bands of the same era, and the pure, raw energy on it is really inspiring. but ill credit green day for changing my life (musically) and getting me into punk.

This record...so short and to the point, yet so good, especially for the time period it came out in.
Should've been called Fuck the Disco, Here Comes the Sex Pistols.

Good album, I just got it last year, it's one of my favorites, but by the way, in the index you spelled the Sex Pistols "Sex Pixtols" I just thought I would let you know.

yes, hfs the sex pistols rule. i love their album mainly because it's fast, its loud, and its right to the point. Though i do find it funny how one of the most influential punk bands only lasted for two years and only had one official album. Still, thank god they did.

The Sex Pistols weren't real anarchists. None of their songs should be taken serious really. Johnny Rotten said something along the lines of "Maybe I'm just a bad comedian, but I thought Never Mind the Bollocks was hilarious".

This was a really good album, considering the Pistols had almost no musical talent
Pretty Vacant and God Save the Queen are my faves

THE FIRST WONDERFUL PUNK ALBUM

If you ask me, this is one of the most overrated albums of all time. I got this, and, while I didn't expect greatness, I expected at least a reason for it to be as reveered(sp?) as it is; like, if I didn't like it I'd still see why it's viewed as a legendary album.
That didn't happen; I didn't dislike it, but at the same time I didn't understand the appeal of it. Even in '77, everything on this album had been done before. There is nothing new here, and that itself isn't a problem, but if there's nothing interesting or appealing about the music, I, like most people wouldn't like it; and I found nothing interesting or appealing about this album. It's an alright album, and if it were released today, I would probably say it was better than most things out at the time, but there were already many lesser known punk bands that were doing this and much better. I suppose that the only reason this is held on such high regard is that it was a fresh sound that was already there but commercialized by this band.
and to "fuck_you", listen to the first two Ramones albums; both came before this, and both were exceptionally better than this.

Well it inspired hundreds of punk artists and if it didn't exist there would be no Green Day. The song that got Billie into punk was Holidays in The Sun which is on this album.

well I give them credit for popularizing punk, but that's about it (besides, wasn't punk not supposed to be popularized in the first place? so wouldn't that mean that the sex pistols killed punk?...just a theory)

because everyone already knows The Clash have better music and are more talented.

and pinheadkid, The Ramones were a gigantic influence on the pistols; if the Ramones hadn't existed, the pistols would'nt be where they are.

The reason Clash played punk was because they went to a Pistols concert. Dont deny it Mickie said himself on a Joe Strumeer Biography.
