i have it unchecked in itunes as well. but that's more to do with the fact that my shitty ipod can only hold so much music and elliott just doesn't make the list.

i don't really have one particular artist that reminds me of a time i'd rather forget. well there's simple plan, but that's more of a "i can't believe i listened to this garbage in 6th or 7th grade" memory.

re-ha-ha-heally? every song I can remember the name of I can place a memory with, good or bad, one or many.

yeah, certain songs, but not one special artist that i associate with one certain time. i mean i have albums i always listen to if i'm having a bad day. and bands that remind me of shtuff. but i can't think off the top of my head of a band that = baddddd to me.
you're making me think too much.

what usually happens to me is i find out a person i severely dislike has the same favorite band as me, which results in me having trouble enjoying the music much. well actually that's only happened 2 or 3 times. i guess i need to get more enemies

hm and some songs to checkout for anyone who hasn't heard his stuff:
The video of him at the Oscars is seriously one of the most awkward things ever caught on film... Trisha Yearwood, little Elliott in his white suit, and then BOOM Celine Dion! And then they all bow at the end...

elliott smith makes me feel so melancholy. I love him. He makes beautiful music.
i recently picked up Figure 8 on vinyl and I can't stop listening to it. i absolutely am madly in love with "In the Lost and Found (Honk Bach)" After getting either/or after a tip from a friend, i was hooked and downloaded all of his albums.
he was also in a band called heatmiser that's pretty good as well.

ya should also look into his b-sides and unreleased stuff! here's a few of 'em:
Also, I suggest you go out and buy (or download) his second posthumous album, New Moon. It's a beautiful two-disk collection and some of my favorite songs come from there: an early version of Miss Misery, Angel in the Snow, Thirteen (probably my favorite Elliott Smith song), Georgia, Georgia, See You Later, the list goes on. Definitely worth my 17 bucks.

Figure 8. that album took awhile to grow on me. In the Lost and Found (Honk Bach) just recently clicked with me. same with Stupidity Tries. so, the album is more while now. which is awesome since aside from 5 other songs I'm not too crazy 'bout the rest of the album. Heatmiser are pretty alrite. definitely always great to hear more from Elliott.

The same goes for this collection to about hearin' more Elliott! it has some pretty great songs. a good amount of it is meh but that's to be expected considering they're unused songs. Talking to Mary, High Times and Going Nowhere though... great stuff! the acoustic version of the two heatmiser songs are also neat 'specially Half Right!

you're gonna have to now look into some of his bootlegs if you're still fiendin' for more stuff. it's pretty neat to hear some of the songs done unplugged. this comes to mind: I Didn't Understand & Miss Misery:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPCvPSIHCmY

I've downloaded all his stuff now, and I can't help but still feel gravitated towards either/or, which was the first album i heard from him. I also like XO a lot. I don't know. He's just so complex. When I first was getting into his music I had no idea he was gone, and when I was looking him up online I saw the news stories about him and all of his music got sudden higher meaning to me.
weird.
on a side note ^^^ where in socal are you from?

aha. I bet you have. hm. that reminds me. I still gotta checkout Roman Candle. The only album of his I've yet heard. For awhile XO I thought was his best. Now, I think it's From the Basement on the Hill. boy and that's one album that totally grew on me!! I think I had knew he was dead right before hearin' his stuff..or least shortly after. I had been acquainted with him with the use of Needle in the Hay on The Royal Tenenbaums soundtrack which was genius.
I reside in the San Gabriel Valley which is apparently part of LA county.

In the Lost and Found (live):
came across this the other nite. for me it was like a find! I woulda never known this woulda been performed live!!! Just about as magical live as well! man. I dunno what is 'bout this song but conjures up a very sunny and deep blue ocean feeling even though it's not really a happy song! I love how the stage lighting is all blue too. perfect setting!
Stupidity Tries:
boy. this is a great performance of the song. Another song I can't get enough of! So relatable! Man and you'd expect Elliott to be more popular than he is 'specially playin' this on Letterman.. and a song besides his only popular song, Miss Misery too!
ooh well. he's our lil secret.
