Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols
Submitted by: Kaitlin Saltzer
When someone mentions the Sex Pistols the first word that might come to mind is Anarchy. An•ar•chy: Absence of any cohesive principle, such as a common standard or purpose. (Taken from dictionary.com) Never Mind the Bullocks was the Sex Pistols’ debut album and their skeleton key to the frail minds of its listeners.
The pistols’ “piss off” approach toward life is what gave them that attitude, that sass and that outlandish attraction pulling in masses of young, hungry and impressionable listeners. Emerging from a time of pretty pop melodies, hungry for something more substantial the Pistols came roaring out with a physical presence.
For the first time you could feel the energy, a dangerous almost violent presence of an imminent uproar. Rock n’ Roll became more than just cerebral but a physical craze, something to grasp and live by.
This album concerned the public but excited the outcasts of society with tracks like “God Save the Queen” and “Anarchy in the UK”. Each song on never mind the Bullocks served as an anthem for every teenage misfit and outsider, it compelled them to question the established society and gave them an opportunity to revolt. The Sex Pistols initiated a cultural revolution and served it to the public on a rusty platter. “Never Mind the Bullocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols” is sure to satisfy your craving for rebellion in the form of raw, crunchy riffs and sneering attitude with socially conscious lyrics.

yes, hfs the sex pistols rule. i love their album mainly because it's fast, its loud, and its right to the point. Though i do find it funny how one of the most influential punk bands only lasted for two years and only had one official album. Still, thank god they did.
actually, they were around for a good 4-5 years...

That didn't happen; I didn't dislike it, but at the same time I didn't understand the appeal of it. Even in '77, everything on this album had been done before. There is nothing new here, and that itself isn't a problem, but if there's nothing interesting or appealing about the music, I, like most people wouldn't like it; and I found nothing interesting or appealing about this album. It's an alright album, and if it were released today, I would probably say it was better than most things out at the time, but there were already many lesser known punk bands that were doing this and much better. I suppose that the only reason this is held on such high regard is that it was a fresh sound that was already there but commercialized by this band.
and to "fuck_you", listen to the first two Ramones albums; both came before this, and both were exceptionally better than this.
